The first gynecological examination usually takes place between the 6th and 7th week of pregnancy, but it is recommended to make an appointment as soon as you start thinking about getting pregnant.
During a prenatal checkup, any anemia can be detected and any outdated vaccinations can be refreshed. For chronic conditions, it is a good idea to discuss in advance how treatment will change during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are having trouble quitting smoking, alcohol or drugs, we can work together to find help.
During prenatal care, both the mother and the fetus are monitored regularly. At the appointment, body weight, blood pressure, and urine are checked, and a vaginal exam may be performed. The baby's condition is also checked by ultrasound and, starting at 32 weeks, by a CTG scan.
A follow-up visit is recommended 6 weeks after delivery, where you can also discuss the contraception you would like to use.
