There is no reason to cancel you appointment. If your question is related to your period, this in fact is the right moment to talk about it.

You can pay by card, Payconiq or cash.

It is usually best to see a doctor after the sixth week of pregnancy, when the embryo can be seen on ultrasound and its heartbeat can be detected. However, if you have any questions or complaints, you can contact me at any time.

If the bleeding is fresh red and heavy, possibly accompanied by amniotic fluid or cramping pain, contact the emergency department of your nearest hospital immediately.

Gynaecology examination may also cause mild, spotty, or brownish discharge. This is usually harmless. If you are still worried, book an appointment or call me!

Most girls and women arrive for their first gynaecological examination feeling anxious.

If you just want to ask questions, there will be no vaginal examination.

If you have a complaint and need to be examined, dress comfortably, wearing a skirt or a longer t-shirt that partially covers you during the examination. For a pelvic ultrasound, it is helpful if trousers can be unbuttoned easily. It is not necessary to remove pubic hair, as this is not important for the examination.

Make a note of any questions you have and feel free to bring an accompanying person you trust.

Everyone is welcome in my practice, regardless of insurance status.

Patients covered by the Belgian insurance scheme pay only part of the examination fee, the other part is paid by the insurance company.

If you are not insured in Belgium, you pay the full amount and can claim reimbursement from your insurance company with the receipt you receive from me.

It is recommended that you have a gynaecological check-up once a year. The examination includes a pelvic examination and a palpation of the breast.

Cytological screening is recommended every 3 years from the age of 21 or HPV screening every 5 years from the age of 25 to detect early cervical cancer. Both tests can be done at the same time.

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. Regular breast screening is recommended for early detection and mammography every 2 years between the ages of 50 and 69.

The most common symptoms of endometrial cancer are abnormal/irregular bleeding and bleeding after menopause. Be sure to consult your gynaecologist if you experience any of these.

There is currently no effective screening test for early detection of ovarian cancer. In high-risk groups (close family members with the disease), vaginal ultrasound and CA-125 tumour marker testing can be done annually.

Of course you can. There is a small drawing table in the waiting room. During an ultrasound scan, children are eager to see how the little baby's heart beats and how the baby moves in its mother's tummy.

However, detailed ultrasound scans can take longer and young children often lose patience after 5-10 minutes. It is recommended that you bring an adult to keep your baby occupied if necessary.
