My name is Ágnes Katona. I am an obstetrician-gynecologist. I studied at the universities of Târgu Mures and Strasbourg. I have been working in Germany since 2011 and qualified as a specialist in 2016. I am welcoming my patients in my private practice from October 2023.
As a woman and a physician, I consider educating women about the changes in the female body very important. We can only truly maintain our physical health if we understand how our body works. Cyclical changes in female sex hormones not only trigger monthly periods, but also have many other physiological effects. Adolescence, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause all present different challenges for women, and the changes not only manifest themselves in physical symptoms, but also affect our mental health.
By understanding these processes, we can prepare for the changes ahead. We will understand what causes mood swings, what screening is appropriate at what age and why, which contraceptive method is the right one, and what to look out for after the last menstrual period.
As a mother of three, I have personal experience of the challenges of having children in a foreign country. I am happy to help my patients navigate the Belgian health system.
